We need a bigger doll.

I'll even settle for just a dolls head, about the size of a 6-12 months old baby's head.

Doll Lisa is now to small to model the clothes and hats I knit for the babies around me. Beacuse, and this should not come as a shock to anyone, babies grow! Fast!

So I think this is Lisa's last model assignment for a while.

(As always, you can click the pictures to go to Flickr and take a closer look if you like)

I knit up this baby bonnet for my cousins baby a few weeks ago. It's knit in Rauma Babygarn. It goes with a jumpsuit my mom knit, and I've used the same stitch pattern as she used. The construction of the bonnet is very loosely based on the baby bonnet pattern I knit this summer, from Dale.

(If there is any interest, I can post rought guidelines to how you can knit your own.)

Cozy in a cloud

A weekends worth of knitting and I have a brand new, awsome, warm and cozy bolero.

Cloud bolero Cloud bolero Cloud bolero Cloud bolero

The yarn is a wool/mohair blend, Alfa, and it's knit on #13 needles.

I wore it to work today and got a few nice comments, then I went straight home and used todays 5 minutes of good light to try to take some decent pictures by myself. I even put on a little bit of lipstick, but that did not seem to help the pictures all that much. Then again, who knows when the sun will be out and shining on my Cloud Bolero again?

Lovely socks, and my first meme

Sockpal socks

The lovely RoseRead knit these most excellent socks for me in the Knittyboard Sock Swap. And they are indeed a pair of knittyboard sock. The yarn is bluefaced leicter sock yarn, by dyer extraordinaire: Tigerlilith, and the pattern is by the very talented Momma Monkey! They fit like a dream and are very nice and cozy to wear while relaxing in front of the fire place, knitting.

Thank you so much RoseRead!

Also, I've been tagged by Ladonna, the nauti knitter.

So here it goes, 7 facts about me:
-I've never broken any bones or had any cavities
-Hubby Petter and I only moved in together when Marie was 5 months old. Before that, I shared a house with a friend from collegue and another tennant of hers. What can I say? My family and friends call Petter and me "a true love story".
-I don't eat "knirkemat", food that makes a squeeky sound when it's chewed. Bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, leek and spring onion fall into this category, along with a few other things. I always take the skin off potatoes before eating them.
-I've found out a lot of norwegians mistake me for being from Sweden, and even people from the same part of Norway as me have made hilarious guesses to where I'm from.
-When I was 21 I lost 10 kg, close to 1/5 of my body weight for no reason at all. I looked like a stick insect. Before the doctors could find out why, I'd gained it all again, and it was written off as "metabolism stuff".
-I sleep face down, I have done so since I was a baby. And I snore!
-I can feel one of my ovaries.
-When my friend took me to the delivery room September 17th 2002, after my water broke, we were both a bit bummed because we missed out on an episode of Ally McBeal.

It seems like everyone and their cat has been tagged already! If you're reading this and have not been tagged yet: -Tag, you're it!

Oh no, it's one of those "I'm a bad blogger" posts

I use knitting as stress relief some times. Right now I have too much on my plate to even pick up the needles. When I feel stressed and I can't relax with some good wool and nice stockinette stitch my brain starts to tingle and itch.
I'll be blogging and blabbing again by the end of next week. By then I'll be all done re-locating my job and Marie will have turned 5. There are new finished objects to show and some really cute babies in knitwear.

Blah!

You'll have to wait a few days for FO pictures of any kind...

Frog

Happy note: I got my IK yesterday and will be reading it in bed and doing math for a while before I start anything from it. And (tada!) I'm picking up my wheel from the post office today. I'm very, very happy about it. I've been wanting a Louet S10 dt since I took spinning classes in February, and now I have one :)

Tap tap tap....

That's the sound of my foot tapping on the floor, impatiently. I got an sms late last night from my mom, telling me that my cousin had gone to hospital to give birth to her son. So I'm trying to wait patiently to hear the news about the birth of little baby Fredrik. Little baby Fredrik that I'm knitting for here.

So you see, that's proof that I did knit this summer.

There is a bonnet to go with that raglan cardigan that is taking from up there^^^

The model is Fredriks older cousin Frida, born in June. She's the sweetest little thing!

That is not all the knitting I've been doing this summer. My first real grown up sweater, the white Green Tea Raglan, is just missing half a sleeve. I'll finish it soon. I just have to knit a little bit more on Fredriks things first, because I'm loving the little baby things.

Oh, and I bought yarn this summer!

Because we love cheap but good yarn, don't we Marie?

Yes, we do!

I'll be back soon

There is absolutely no knitting content in this post! I just wanted to drop in and say I'll be back soon. AND hubby managed to snap a pretty picture of me for once. I'm very happy about that!

Here, have an apple! And a bunny!

I'm leaving in 23 hours. Nearly 4 weeks of holiday to look forward to.

So, please have an apple while you wait for me to get back.

apple

Maybe you would like to pet our new bunny too?

Marie has made both of those. The apple was made from leftovers from my spinning stuff. Like this:
felt ball making felt ball making
Then put into a nylon knee stocking, knot tied and one round in the washing machine along with our jeans.

I've packed all the knitting I feel I need to take with me when I leave home for so long.
Suemoons sock swap socks. One sock nearly done:)
Yarn, pattern and needles for Stariels sock swap socks
Wisp in progress
Yarn, needles and closure for a Cloud Bolero
Grean Tea raglan, for easy knitting in the car!
Breeze socks to finish quickly! I basically want to wear them NOW!
Twinkle toes, need to make one more
Four balls of Rowan Denim to make another pair of Denim drawstring pants

And the final project, mom has bought yarn and pattern so we can knit a together for my cousins baby, due mid August.

So I'll knit and relax a lot. And please don't say anything along the lines of "travel lightly"...

So for now, you go right back to enjoying that apple...

Another February sweater from Knitters Almanac and a Vine Lace Baby Hat from Interweave Knits / Knitting daily.

I love this cardigan. I like it much better than the first one I made. The yarn is yummier and since I knew the pattern better this time I was able to make it completely seamless! Yay for seamlessness!
The yarn I used was Jaeger Aqua. A very good cotton yarn. I generally don't like knitting with cotton. But the shine and feel of this yarn has me if not converted, then at least willing to try more nice cotton yarns in the future.
The baby hat is very sweet too. I have no idea how it will fit a baby or stay on. But it was a very enjoyable knit once I got a hang of the lace stitch pattern. And it's quick too. I see more of these in the future. Maybe paired with those saccarine sweet Saartjes booties (pdf)? For a really quick and lovely newborn baby gift! Yes, I think so!

And the buttons on that cardigan. Did you see them? I think I have a weak spot for that kind of buttons. They are the same kind I used on the stripey cardigan I made not long ago. And I'm planning to buy some bright orange ones to put on a Wisp I'm knitting for my mom.

So, two posts in one week... I have a strong feeling there will be three! My summer holiday starts Friday. I have nearly 4 weeks off! It's going to be great, but I don't know how much online access I'll have while I'm gone, nor how much I'll have to blog about. I just feel like I have to be "all blogged out" before I go!

Blame summer

Althoug rainy and somewhat cold, summer is here. Summer means lots of other things to do besides knitting and blogging.

At least these things suggest I have a clean kitchen.

(You can also blame Ravelry for the silence in this blog, and so many others out there in blog land, if you wish. I'm there, go look me up and befriend me if you haven't already!)
